About

This is a place where we explore everyday chemistry. From chemical reactions in the kitchen, to interesting molecules we encounter daily and materials we interact with. Shorter posts can be found on instagram @chemicalhistories, but here the materials and chemicals are discussed at greater length and with more emphasis on historical and sometimes political depth.

The questions I fundamentally aim to answer are why are some molecules and materials more interesting and important than other? Why are some even strategically important? What is it in them from a scientific point of view that is irreplaceable that we as societies wage wars over and need it desperately for our continued development?
